The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has indefinitely delayed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which was originally planned for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
According to a statement released on Monday by Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the postponement is due to “recent developments within the party,” though the statement did not elaborate on the specific issues involved.
The announcement stated, “Esteemed members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will recall that the 103rd NEC meeting was set for Wednesday, 15th October, 2025.
“Nonetheless, considering recent occurrences in the Party, the National Working Committee (NWC), exercising its authority under Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), convened an emergency session on Monday, 13th October, 2025, and resolved to postpone the 103rd NEC meeting to a later date, which will be communicated to members in due course.
“All NEC members are advised to take note of this postponement and act accordingly.”
Reports from LEADERSHIP indicate that this indefinite delay coincides with escalating unrest within the opposition, triggered by a series of prominent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Tuesday, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah formally defected to the APC, while there are unconfirmed reports that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas might be contemplating similar moves.
This development unfolds as the PDP ramps up its preparations for the upcoming National Convention, slated to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16.
