In a strategic move highlighting its dedication to progress and superior performance, Aviation Finance Group (AFG) has named Mr. Shiekuma Gemade as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Bringing over 20 years of extensive international expertise in aircraft operations, fleet management, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) leadership, Mr. Gemade is poised to be a pivotal force in advancing AFG’s leadership vision.
Prior to joining AFG, Mr. Gemade led fleet operations at Riyadh Air, where he directed aircraft procurement, fleet strategy, and the rollout of one of the most ambitious fleet expansion initiatives in the aviation sector. His strategic foresight was instrumental in defining the airline’s future aircraft acquisition plans.
His career also includes senior positions at Atlas Air Worldwide and Titan Aviation Leasing, where he managed a vast portfolio of widebody freighter leases valued in the billions and orchestrated complex aircraft transactions spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. His expertise in structuring and closing deals exceeding $12 billion has earned him significant acclaim within the industry.
Earlier in his professional journey, Shiekuma Gemade, son of Senator Barnabas Gemade, honed his skills at Delta Air Lines. Starting in engineering roles within Delta Technical Operations, he progressed to operational leadership, enhancing the efficiency of Delta’s 450-aircraft DC fleet.
A native of Nigeria, Mr. Gemade’s educational path began in Gboko, Benue State, followed by secondary education in Jos, Plateau State. He then advanced his studies overseas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Science in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida-renowned globally for aviation education. Additionally, he holds a Private Pilot license issued by the FAA.
