The Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa Gateway, has successfully carried out multiple initiatives focusing on four primary areas: basic education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, disease prevention and treatment, alongside economic and community development.

Rotarian Dr. Sunday Fasipe, the club’s president, highlighted these achievements, reiterating Rotary’s dedication to enhancing quality of life through sustainable, community-driven projects.

He explained that the recently launched “three-in-one project” exemplifies Rotary’s comprehensive approach to community service. The first component, named “Empower a Thousand Girls,” provided sanitary supplies to 1,000 girls aged 12 to 15, ensuring they had access to menstrual hygiene products for six months. This initiative aimed to boost girls’ confidence, promote health, and improve school attendance.

The second element was a Spelling Bee Contest involving ten junior secondary schools within the Bwari Area Council. This competition was designed to foster literacy skills, improve spelling proficiency, and encourage academic excellence among students.

Top performers in the contest, securing first through third places, received scholarships as incentives to continue their educational journey and intellectual development.

The third aspect addressed water, sanitation, hygiene, and disease prevention by constructing a state-of-the-art restroom facility for female teachers at Government Secondary School, Kubwa, located opposite the General Hospital.

According to Dr. Fasipe, this new facility aims to provide a clean, safe, and dignified environment for teachers, enhancing their well-being and workplace comfort.

He further noted that these projects are part of a broader humanitarian agenda unveiled during his inauguration as the 11th President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa Gateway. This plan, valued at N65 million, targets vulnerable populations within Kubwa and surrounding areas.

Dr. Fasipe emphasized the club’s unwavering commitment to delivering meaningful interventions across critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and sanitation.

“Our mission at Rotary is to foster lasting improvements in our communities,” he affirmed, adding that the club is preparing to launch a multimillion-naira, cutting-edge healthcare center. He also called on philanthropists and government agencies to join efforts in supporting these initiatives to enhance health and living standards in Nigeria.

He praised Rotarian Prince Kingsley Chukwudi Onuorah, the project chairman, for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the successful execution of these programs.

In response, Onuorah commended the team’s hard work and reiterated the club’s commitment to its core purpose of serving humanity with passion and integrity.
