According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, this arrest marks a significant victory in the ongoing campaign against violent crime within Lagos.
She explained that the gang’s method involved infiltrating vehicles as passengers and then forcibly seizing the cars from their owners at gunpoint during transit.
“Between 1:00 AM on October 15, 2025, and 3:00 AM on October 17, 2025, intelligence-driven operations by the Command’s Tactical Squad culminated in the capture of four notorious armed robbers at their hideout in Igando, Lagos State,” she stated.
The suspects apprehended include Taiwo Alabi, 42; Ogedengbe Lowis, 46; Ighodalo Enato Francis, 37; and Osaro Eghe Abiodun, 34.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to forcibly taking vehicles from owners at gunpoint and fleeing with the stolen cars. They have also been implicated in similar armed robbery cases across Ogun, Oyo, and Edo States.
Items seized from the gang comprised one automatic pump-action shotgun, a Beretta pistol, 48 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 46 live cartridges, a cutlass, various talismans believed to aid criminal activities, one Toyota Sienna, two Lexus ES350 sedans, and a Toyota Corolla sedan.
Further investigations revealed that the gang’s strategy was to pose as passengers in commercial vehicles before robbing private drivers of their cars at gunpoint.
SP Adebisi added, “One of the vehicles was stolen within Lagos, while the others were taken in Ogun, Oyo, and Edo States using the same tactics. The suspects were carefully tracked and arrested across these states following weeks of coordinated surveillance and intelligence gathering.”
Efforts are ongoing to identify and capture additional members of the gang who remain at large.
The Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating all criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents throughout the State.
In a statement, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public that the Command will persist with intelligence-led policing strategies to maintain peace and security by eliminating criminal elements from Lagos.
