Award-winning Nigerian hitmaker tips Manchester United for EPL title challenge after Liverpool win

Manchester United currently sit ninth in the Premier League standings with 13 points, six points behind league leaders Arsenal and three behind second-placed Manchester City…

Nigerian hitmaker Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, known as Joeboy, has confidently predicted that Manchester United could be in contention for the Premier League title this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Joeboy’s comment came after United’s impressive display against their long-time rivals, which saw them earn their first league win at Anfield since 2016.

Thanks to Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbuemo’s goals, the Red Devils secured a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

What Joeboy Wrote About Manchester United

The Afropop star remarked on his official X (formerly Twitter) account following the Manchester club’s hard-fought 2–1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

His post read:

“Lowkey Man U will challenge for the title.”

Mbeumo opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the first minute, while Maguire’s towering header in the 84th minute sealed all three points after Cody Gakpo had briefly leveled for Liverpool.

The result made it Manchester United’s second consecutive league victory under new manager Ruben Amorim, which could be the start of a new thing at the club.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have now suffered four straight defeats in all competitions, with their manager Arne Slot facing mounting pressure to halt the slump.

Joeboy’s follows similar reactions from other Nigerian celebrities—including Adekunle Gold, who cheekily claimed credit for the team’s improved form since releasing his FUJI album, and Asisat Oshoala, who hailed Harry Maguire as the “GOAT” after the defender’s heroic performance.

Manchester United will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford on Saturday and will be hoping to build on their previous performances. Meanwhile, a section of the Nigerian football fans will be daring to dream again.
