Victor Boniface Set to Embark on New Journey with AC Milan
AC Milan has reached an agreement to bring Nigerian forward Victor Boniface to Italy on an initial loan from Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports from Soccernet.ng. The deal, confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, involves a €5 million loan fee, with an option to make the transfer permanent for an additional €24 million. If Milan exercises this option, Boniface will be contracted with the Rossoneri until 2030.
Joining a Legacy of Nigerian Talent at Milan
At 24 years old, Boniface becomes the seventh Nigerian to don AC Milan’s iconic red and black jersey. He follows a distinguished line of compatriots including Aliyu Datti, Taribo West, Kingsley Umunegbu, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Taye Taiwo, and most recently, Samuel Chukwueze. Boniface aims to surpass Chukwueze’s record as Milan’s highest-scoring Nigerian, who netted eight goals for the club.
Swift Negotiations and Strategic Loan Structure
Negotiations accelerated after Boniface’s agent, Atta Aneke, traveled to Milan to finalize personal terms. The loan agreement offers Milan a strategic advantage, minimizing long-term financial risk while allowing Boniface to demonstrate his capabilities in Serie A. Medical assessments are anticipated in the coming days before the transfer is officially completed.
Boniface’s Impactful Yet Challenging Spell in Germany

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen in July 2023, Boniface quickly made his mark by scoring in his first two Bundesliga matches against RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Despite a promising start, his momentum was interrupted by an adductor injury. By April 2024, he had returned to form, scoring in the Europa League against West Ham and playing a crucial role in Leverkusen’s first-ever Bundesliga title win.
He finished the season as Leverkusen’s top Bundesliga scorer with 14 goals, showcasing his blend of physicality, speed, and precise finishing. Across all competitions, Boniface tallied 32 goals in 61 appearances, earning widespread acclaim for his dynamic playing style.
European Highlights and Growing Competition

Boniface’s European credentials were further enhanced by a memorable Champions League goal against AC Milan in October 2024. However, increased competition for starting roles, particularly following Patrik Schick’s resurgence, limited his playing time last season.
AC Milan’s Tactical Vision and Expectations
AC Milan’s need for a robust and adaptable striker aligns perfectly with Boniface’s skill set. Head coach Massimiliano Allegri plans to utilize him across the attacking front, leveraging his strength and ability to link play alongside teammates Rafael Leão and Samuel Chukwueze. After finishing 8th in Serie A last season, Milan is eager for Boniface to contribute to their quest for the Scudetto in the upcoming campaign.
While Boniface is unlikely to feature in Milan’s opening league match against Cremonese, he is expected to be available for selection in the subsequent fixture against Lecce on August 29, potentially marking his debut for the club.
