In the wake of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and several of his allies defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Steve Orurua, the acting chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu, has affirmed that the party remains vibrant and active within the state.
During a press briefing held on Tuesday at his Enugu office, Orurua expressed confidence in the party’s resilience despite recent setbacks.
Orurua assumed the role of acting State chairman following the resignation of the previous PDP chairman, stepping into a challenging political landscape.
Although a significant number of PDP members have shifted allegiance to the APC, Orurua emphasized the party’s commitment to revitalizing its presence and influence in Enugu.
He called on the PDP’s extensive base of supporters and loyalists to strengthen their unity and renew their enthusiasm for the party’s cause.
Having previously served as the PDP’s vice chairman in the state, Orurua highlighted the importance of fostering a renewed spirit within the opposition ranks.
He underscored the necessity for a political revival and pledged to ensure fairness and equal opportunity within the party’s structure under his leadership.
“This meeting is intended to assure the people of Enugu State that the PDP continues to thrive and remains a formidable force,” Orurua declared.
