Mr. Jeremiah Umaru, the representative for Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the APC, has recently equipped over 100 widows and vulnerable women in Nasarawa State with valuable entrepreneurial skills to foster their independence.
During a ceremony held yesterday in Akwanga local government area, the legislator emphasized that this initiative aims to boost the economic status of the participants, empowering them to actively contribute to the progress of both the state and the nation.
Speaking through his wife, Sarah Jeremiah, who stood in for him, he revealed that the beneficiaries were thoughtfully chosen from all 35 electoral wards, with no discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, or political background.
The training programs offered include soap making, baking, and cake crafting, all intended to equip the women with practical skills, starter kits, and ongoing support to launch or enhance their small businesses.
Mr. Umaru encouraged the women to apply the expertise they have acquired to build sustainable enterprises, improve their livelihoods, and achieve self-sufficiency.
He also pledged to expand this empowerment initiative to reach more women within the constituency and called on the local community to support these entrepreneurs by purchasing their products.
