On Thursday, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, paid a visit to Oke-Ode in the Ifelodun local government area to express his sympathies to the community and families mourning the loss of loved ones due to recent kidnappings.
During his visit, the governor offered prayers for the departed souls, lauded the security personnel for their dedication, and assured residents that efforts to restore lasting peace are underway and will soon bear fruit.
He extended his heartfelt condolences and solidarity to all communities affected by the violent incidents, spanning from Ifelodun through Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, Edu, and Patigi within the state.
“Our purpose here is to stand with the community in this difficult time and to recognize the bravery of the security forces, forest guards, and vigilante groups who have worked tirelessly to repel the attackers and bring calm back to the area,” the governor remarked.
“The situation has been demanding, but comprehensive measures are being implemented to reduce the impact and prevent future occurrences,” he added.
Governor AbdulRazaq was accompanied by key security officials including Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo, the state director of the Department of State Services, Dr. Umar Mohammed, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, senior special assistant on Security Muyideen Aliyu, and Hon. Femi Yusuf, chairman of Ifelodun LGA.
He received detailed briefings from security operatives and local leaders from Oke-Ode and nearby Igbaja, such as Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajala, the national president of the Oke-Ode Development Association, Elder Oyin Zubair, and representatives of the youth.
Prior to the visit, the governor had released a statement expressing his sorrow for the affected communities and emphasized the urgent need to enhance protection for citizens and their assets.
