Abia State’s Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has announced that the state is set to position itself as a premier business hub in Africa during the upcoming 2nd Aba International Trade Fair.
Speaking to the media, Emetu revealed that the event will span ten days, from November 28 to December 7, and will be hosted at the Osisioma Trade Fair Complex in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
As the chairman of the organizing committee, he highlighted that this year’s fair, themed “Sustaining the Momentum, Unlocking Abia’s Economic Potentials,” is expected to draw a diverse range of exhibitors from both local and international markets.
The event is being coordinated in partnership with the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, alongside the Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ensuring a broad collaborative effort.
Emetu emphasized that participants will benefit from extensive media coverage, which will facilitate meaningful connections between local chambers and their counterparts beyond the state and national borders.
“We are committed to engaging exhibitors, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs from both rural and urban areas to maximize the event’s visibility,” he stated.
He also praised Governor Dr. Alex Otti’s openness to media engagement, assuring that the press will be fully involved throughout the fair.
Adding to this, Kingsley Nwokocha, the immediate past Commissioner for Trade and Commerce and current co-chairman, expressed confidence that this edition will surpass the successes of the 2024 fair.
Nwokocha, now leading the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, confirmed that the obstacles encountered in the previous event have been thoroughly addressed to ensure a smoother experience for all stakeholders.
