The National Early Warning Center (FEW CENTER) under the Federal Ministry of Environment has urged residents of Ado-Ekiti and Ijero-Ekiti in Ekiti State to remain vigilant and prepared to respond promptly to any potential flooding incidents in their communities.
In a statement released by Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director of the Erosion, Flood, and Coastal Zone Management Department, it was highlighted that Ilesa town in Osun State is also at risk of flooding due to anticipated heavy rains forecasted for October 2025.
Bokani emphasized the importance of collaboration among local authorities, state officials, and community leaders to monitor the situation closely and provide timely updates to the Center. He further advised residents living near rivers and flood-warning-kebbi-kwara-niger-evacuate/” title=”Urgent Alert: NEMA Urges Residents of Kebbi, Kwara, and Niger to Evacuate …-Prone Areas Immediately”>flood-prone areas to take necessary safety precautions or consider temporary relocation to avoid the dangers associated with flooding.
Earlier this month, the FEW Center had already issued flood warnings for several neighborhoods within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which currently holds the highest number of vulnerable locations.
Specifically, areas such as Mabushi, Maraba, Nyanya, Wuse 1 & 2, Kuje, Guzape, and Garki 1 & 2 in the FCT were placed on high alert.
Besides the FCT, additional flood warnings were extended to seven other states: Adamawa, Anambra, Enugu, Rivers, Delta, Kebbi, and Taraba, signaling a widespread need for preparedness across these regions.
