It is with profound sadness that AljazirahNigeria Newspapers announces the passing of its esteemed Managing Editor, Mr. Morgan Omodu. He departed on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the National Hospital in Abuja, following a lengthy illness.
In a press release shared with the media in Abuja yesterday, Daily Editor Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed confirmed the unfortunate news, emphasizing that Mr. Omodu’s demise represents a tremendous loss to both the organization and the wider journalism fraternity.
Throughout his leadership, Mr. Omodu was instrumental in steering AljazirahNigeria’s evolution. A landmark achievement under his guidance was the newspaper’s shift from a weekly to a daily publication on November 1, 2021, a move that significantly enhanced the paper’s prominence and influence across Nigeria.
Recalling their collaboration, Mohammed characterized the late editor as “friendly and accessible, yet unwavering in upholding journalistic integrity.”
“Having partnered with him for close to four years, I admired his transparent leadership approach and his unwavering commitment to quality. He maintained a clear-headed professionalism, yet always made time to lighten the atmosphere with humor after office hours,” he reflected.
Mohammed further expressed that the entire AljazirahNigeria team will profoundly feel the absence of Omodu’s visionary leadership, dedication, and kindness, which motivated both emerging reporters and veteran staff alike.
He also assured that information regarding funeral arrangements will be shared with the public in due time.
