The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has confirmed its participation in the upcoming 2025 Africa Peace Prayer Summit scheduled to take place in Kenya, with Ambassador Amaba Sam Ogbuku appointed to lead the delegation.

In a press release issued from Abuja, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke, IAWPA’s International Spokesperson, emphasized that this year’s summit, set for Sunday, December 7, is poised to be a landmark gathering. It will unite peace activists, influential thinkers, and key stakeholders from across the African continent to advance peace, stability, and sustainable growth.

Ambassador Nkweke highlighted that the summit aims to encourage meaningful dialogue and collaboration among nations, communities, and individuals, fostering a climate of peace and regional stability.

“Focusing on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the summit will play a crucial role in accelerating progress, especially towards SDG 16, which centers on peace, justice, and robust institutions,” he explained.

He also pointed out the summit’s commitment to “empowering women and youth, acknowledging their vital contributions to peacebuilding and development, and their influence in shaping Africa’s future.”

The event will feature a gala evening designed to facilitate networking, exchange of ideas, and celebration of milestones achieved in peace and development across Africa. “This occasion will also honor individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to peace efforts,” the statement added.

With its special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), IAWPA reaffirmed its dedication to fostering global peace, stability, and sustainable development. Ambassador Amaba Sam Ogbuku, a distinguished peace advocate, will spearhead the delegation, bringing valuable insights and expertise to the summit.

In a related statement, Ambassador Dr. Fred Okama Okatch, IAWPA’s Country Director in Kenya, described the timing and location of the summit as providential. He noted that Kenya, as the African headquarters of the United Nations, is the ideal host for this event. He further shared that his church, chosen as the summit venue, was selected through spiritual inspiration. “I am honored to welcome esteemed Peace Ambassadors from around the globe to Kenya, a nation poised for renewal following this prayer summit,” he remarked.

Through its involvement in the Africa Peace Prayer Summit, IAWPA aims to support the vision of a more peaceful and thriving Africa, consistent with its mission to promote peace across all sectors within the 193 member states of the United Nations.
