Speaking on Wednesday in Owerri during the unveiling of the book Ten Years of Impactful Leadership of the APC Administration in Nigeria, authored by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Akpabio highlighted this anticipated political shift.
This statement aligns with the APC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its political foothold across Nigeria, a campaign that has successfully attracted governors, legislators, and influential political figures from rival parties since the APC ended the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) dominance in 2015.
“Mr. President, considering your achievements over the past two years, prepare to welcome more governors from opposition ranks. Currently, several governors are ready to join your administration,” Akpabio declared, as reported by his media aide, Jackson Udom, in Abuja.

While he refrained from naming specific individuals, his remarks have sparked widespread conjecture about potential defections in states like Rivers, Abia, Kano, Osun, and Benue, where internal conflicts within the PDP have intensified recently.
The Senate President lauded President Tinubu’s reform initiatives, emphasizing their positive impact across various sectors. “Students, farmers, and entrepreneurs alike are acknowledging the reforms you have introduced, which are now delivering tangible benefits to the populace,” he stated.
Additionally, Akpabio praised Governor Uzodimma for chronicling the APC’s political journey, calling the publication an important historical document. “If you don’t narrate your own story, others will do it for you. True progress is demonstrated through deeds, not just words,” he remarked.
He extended his congratulations to Uzodimma and the APC’s national leadership for a decade marked by significant accomplishments under the party’s guidance.
