The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has openly condemned the two-year tenure of Governor Agbu Kefas, asserting that his leadership has been a disappointment to the residents of the state.
According to the party, Governor Kefas has inadvertently paved the way for the APC to reclaim power in 2027 by failing to deliver on his promises, effectively completing 80% of the groundwork for the opposition’s victory. They argue that his track record offers no compelling reason for the electorate to grant him a second term.
Fidelis Francis, the APC Secretary in Taraba State, expressed these views during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Jalingo, the state capital.
Francis emphasized that Governor Kefas has not fulfilled the commitments he made during the 2023 gubernatorial campaign, leaving the people of Taraba State underserved and disillusioned.
He further revealed that the APC has taken lessons from previous electoral setbacks and is now strategically positioning itself to secure a win in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Calling on party members to remain composed and united, Francis urged them to prepare diligently to unseat the current administration.
“To all APC supporters in Taraba, I urge calm and focus. We must organize ourselves effectively to overcome a government that has let down the entire state,” he stated.
“This administration has failed not only the people but also the party that brought it to power. I assure you, with God’s grace, if we avoid past errors, the PDP will become a thing of the past because they have consistently failed us,” Francis added.
He criticized the PDP for its lack of tangible achievements since 1999, particularly under Governor Kefas’s leadership.
“I say this openly: the government cannot point to even a single culvert constructed, let alone a kilometer of road,” he remarked.
“In fact, the governor has done much to aid the opposition’s cause by failing to deliver any meaningful projects. His so-called developments are mere facades, superficial renovations passed off as accomplishments,” the APC official asserted.
Francis went on to say, “It’s troubling to see the government celebrating projects initiated by others. We welcome this because it highlights their inability to produce results. This administration is a failure, plain and simple.”
He also highlighted the neglected state of infrastructure, citing the unrepaired bridge on the road to the governor’s own local government area, which collapsed months ago.
“This neglect signals a lack of genuine commitment to governance. It feels as though the governor was thrust into office without a clear plan. By failing to deliver, he has effectively done 80% of the work for us to reclaim Taraba,” Francis explained.
Concluding, he stated, “The people of Taraba have no valid reason to reelect Governor Agbu Kefas in 2027.”
