Adams Oshiomhole, the senator for Edo North, has obi-polls/” title=”2027 Showdown: Datti Baba-Ahmed Rejects ADC Coalition, Pledges Unwavering Support to … Ahead of Elections”>openly criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State governor Peter Obi, asserting that neither stands a viable chance in the 2027 presidential race.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics,’ the exapc-sends-warning-shot-to-gov-adeleke-days-after-tinubu-talks/” title=”Tension in Osun as … sends warning shot to Gov Adeleke days after Tinubu talks”>-governor of Edo State highlighted the duo’s track record of electoral setbacks, both individually and as a team, now united under the opposition banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Didn’t Atiku and Obi run together before, challenging the APC? And weren’t they defeated?” Oshiomhole questioned. “No matter how you look at it, their joint effort was decisively beaten by the APC.”
He emphasized that past election results clearly demonstrate that any alliance between Atiku and Obi is unlikely to alter their political trajectory.
“They have consistently lost both as partners and as separate candidates. If they reunite, the outcome will remain unchanged,” Oshiomhole stated.
It’s worth noting that in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Obi contested under the Labour Party (LP). Together, they amassed over 12 million votes, securing second and third places respectively, trailing behind President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their recent partnership within the ADC has fueled rumors of a potential joint ticket for 2027, a prospect Oshiomhole confidently predicts will culminate in another defeat to the incumbent APC.
