The goal is to demand the immediate liberation of the IPOB leader.
Sharing his commitment on X, Sowore emphasized his willingness to put aside political disagreements in the pursuit of justice for Kanu.
“I am prepared to set aside any political differences for this cause,” he declared.
“I challenge every politician and person of conscience from the Southeast who truly desires Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom to move beyond words. The moment for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa.”
Providing an update on Thursday, Sowore confirmed the protest date and time via his social media platforms, stating that the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow march will commence at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 20.
“The historic #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest march to Aso Rock Villa is officially scheduled for October 20 at 7 a.m.,” he announced on X.
In response to this development, Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), voiced his endorsement of the protest organizers, affirming his full support.
“The ongoing detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a painful reminder of the challenges facing our nation’s commitment to justice and the rule of law,” Atiku stated.
“Ignoring court orders that granted him bail represents a misuse of authority and a direct attack on justice.”
He added, “I stand firmly behind the campaign led by @YeleSowore, calling for Kanu’s immediate release or lawful prosecution.”
“As patriots, we fail if we allow Kanu’s case to remain an unresolved grievance that continues to divide our nation.”
