Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, is preparing to provide financial assistance of N20,000 each to 10,000 disadvantaged individuals across 44 local government areas in Kano State.
According to a press release shared yesterday in Abuja by his Media and Publicity Special Adviser, Ismail Mudashir, the distribution of application forms will begin on Thursday, October 9, 2025, marking the start of the beneficiary selection process.
This philanthropic effort is being carried out through the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), a charitable organization established by the Deputy Senate President to support community development.
The foundation has previously introduced several transformative initiatives, such as a scholarship program for postgraduate studies abroad, aimed at assisting underprivileged students from Kano State.
The cash grant initiative is part of Senator Barau’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the welfare of vulnerable populations and foster economic stability throughout the state.
“From the Kano North Senatorial District, 6,500 recipients will be chosen, with each of its 13 local government areas nominating 500 individuals,” the statement detailed.
“Meanwhile, 112 beneficiaries will be selected from each local government area within the Kano Central and Kano South Senatorial Districts,” it added.
The statement also underscored Senator Barau’s extensive contributions to vital sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and transportation infrastructure.
“A key focus of Senator Barau’s mission is the empowerment of women and youth, as he persistently advocates for inclusive progress and sustainable economic development across Northern Nigeria and the nation as a whole,” the release concluded.
