The Bogoro Local Government Area in Bauchi State has expressed deep appreciation to Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the successful delivery of two significant road infrastructure projects, marking a pivotal step in his administration’s commitment to rural development.
The newly completed roads include the 11.2-kilometer Boi-Tapshin route and the 11-kilometer Malar-Lusa-Bogoro stretch. Additionally, the community lauded the governor for providing the necessary funding to finalize the township’s Interdenominational Church, a project that has been warmly welcomed by residents.
During a recent site inspection, Ado Shehu, the project’s supervising engineer, informed the state delegation-led by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman-that both road contracts, awarded in 2020, were executed and finalized within the agreed timelines.
The Boi-Tapshin road was completed as scheduled and is now accessible to the public. Notably, the Tapshin Bridge was reinforced to endure heavy water flow during the rainy season, effectively mitigating previous flooding issues that had plagued the area.
Constructed under the state’s Accelerated Road Project initiative, the road features modern engineering standards, including a five-span bridge, box and ring culverts, and a carriageway measuring 10.3 meters in width with accompanying shoulders for safety and durability.
Local residents such as Istifanus Barde from Tapshin and Astra John from Boi recounted the hardships faced before the road’s construction, especially during flood periods when agricultural and commercial activities were severely hampered.
The inspection team also reviewed progress on the Boi-Gambar-Lere Road, initially planned as a 29-kilometer project in 2024 but later extended to over 35 kilometers due to route realignment.
Shehu reported that the project is slated for completion within 36 dry months, with approximately 48 percent of the work completed to date. Three major bridges have been finalized, two are currently under construction, and more than 40 culverts have been installed to improve drainage.
In response to community appeals, the project scope was expanded to include a two-span bridge at Zakam, a development personally approved and funded by Governor Bala Mohammed.
Local authorities expressed gratitude for the governor’s proactive measures. Honorable Paulmi Bulus Datsir, Councillor of Gambar Ward, highlighted how the new roads have greatly enhanced the mobility of residents and the transportation of agricultural goods.
Datsir emphasized that these infrastructure improvements are catalyzing economic growth in the region but urged for the prompt completion of the Boi-Gambar-Lere Road to better withstand the challenges posed by seasonal rains.
Community elders and traditional leaders in Bogoro hailed the road projects as transformative, noting that the upgraded transport links are fostering increased trade, farming productivity, and social engagement within their communities.
At the Bogoro Local Government Secretariat, the inspection team was warmly welcomed by the council chairman, Honorable Lawi Yakubu Tsumi.
Honorable Tsumi reiterated the administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring all ongoing projects across Bauchi State are completed within the designated timeframes.
In his remarks, Commissioner Usman Shehu Usman explained that the visit was part of a broader initiative to monitor and evaluate critical road infrastructure developments in the region.
