According to LEADERSHIP, Fatima vanished last Wednesday after she was sent to purchase groceries from Birshin Fulani, a neighboring community separated from her home by a single road.
Her remains were discovered late Monday evening when a local farmer, while tending to his crops, detected a strong and foul stench emanating from the field.
The maize farm is situated less than 150 meters from Fatima’s residence.
Community members quickly identified the body as that of the missing young woman, Fatima Mohammed.
An anonymous source revealed to our reporter that Fatima was found lying beside her shopping bags, with the groceries she had bought still nearby.
It was further disclosed that Fatima has since been laid to rest, and the case has been handed over to the police for further inquiry.
When reached for comment, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, confirmed the discovery.
He stated that a specialized team of homicide detectives has been assigned to carry out a comprehensive and prompt investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Fatima’s death.
It is worth noting that just a few weeks prior, several armed robbers were apprehended following an attack on the male students’ hostel at the Polytechnic, where some students sustained injuries during an attempt to steal smartphones, laptops, and other valuables.
