The Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has issued a directive for the prompt removal of unauthorized billboards and campaign posters affixed to streetlight poles and other public structures throughout the state.
Engr Abdulrahman Mai-Auduga, the agency’s director-general, conveyed this instruction during a press briefing in Bauchi, emphasizing that failure to comply would compel the agency’s enforcement team to dismantle all illegal advertisements and posters without further notice.
This initiative to clear unauthorized signage from prominent areas in Bauchi forms part of a broader urban revitalization and regulatory enforcement campaign aimed at eliminating illegal installations within the state.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, managing director of the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Authority, urged residents to strictly observe the physical planning laws and regulations established by the state government.
He highlighted that safeguarding public safety and environmental integrity is both a communal responsibility and an inherent right of every citizen.
Additionally, Zubairu Mato, representing the Bauchi State Roads Traffic Agency (BAROTA), voiced serious concerns regarding the rising incidents of motorists flouting traffic regulations, including driving against the flow of traffic.
Mato cautioned that offenders would face prosecution in Mobile Courts, with penalties enforced in accordance with existing traffic laws.
