Hon. Ojema Ojotu, the sole representative of Benue State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, has officially switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Representing the Apa/Agatu federal constituency, Ojotu made his defection known through a letter delivered by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Accompanied by Benue State’s Deputy Governor Sam Ode, a member of the APC, Ojotu attributed his departure from the PDP to ongoing internal conflicts that span from the national leadership down to his local constituency.
“This move became imperative due to the continuous internal disputes, unresolved leadership struggles, and significant factionalism within the party at all levels, which have left the PDP without clear direction,” he explained.
“Following extensive discussions with my family, influential stakeholders, political allies, and the constituents I serve, I have chosen to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). I am confident that this party provides a more stable and forward-looking platform that better supports the welfare of my people and advances national progress,” Ojotu stated.
