Natasha Akide, widely recognized as Tacha and a former contestant on Big Brother Naija, has shared how her rise to fame has reshaped her perspective on marriage.
During a candid conversation with Yanga FM Lagos, Tacha revealed that she no longer views love as the sole foundation for marriage. Instead, she emphasized that her future spouse must be a billionaire, given her own millionaire status.
“Marrying purely for love is off the table for me now. Since I’m already a millionaire, my partner needs to be wealthier,” she asserted.
She reflected on her mindset prior to her 2019 Big Brother Naija experience, admitting that marrying for love might have been a possibility then, but her priorities have since shifted.
“Before Big Brother Naija, I might have considered it, but at this point, it’s definitely not an option,” Tacha explained.
Currently, she is channeling her energy into advancing her career, placing marriage on the back burner.
In a related discussion about cultural values, veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule addressed misconceptions surrounding his personal life and the enduring tradition of polygamy in Africa.
Responding to rumors and social media chatter, Odule highlighted how his motivational talks are often misinterpreted and sensationalized.
“There was a time people claimed I had ten children with ten different women. I chose not to refute it because polygamy isn’t illegal here. If it’s a sin, I’ll face that reckoning in the afterlife,” he remarked.
Odule emphasized that polygamy remains an integral part of African heritage, contrasting it with Western monogamous norms. He stressed that the essence lies in a man’s ability to responsibly care for and manage his family.
“Polygamy is deeply embedded in our culture. While the West promotes one man, one wife, we have our own traditions. The crucial factor is discipline and accountability,” he stated.
Reflecting on his journey, the actor acknowledged the challenges fame brings, especially in today’s social media-driven world where stories can be distorted for attention. Nevertheless, he credits his focus and integrity for maintaining a positive public image.
“I’ve learned to avoid unnecessary disputes. If rumors don’t harm my reputation, I let them slide. As long as I’m not implicated in wrongdoing, I don’t dwell on negativity,” Odule shared.
He also praised his family for keeping him grounded, describing his home life as one where he is simply a husband and father, not a celebrity.
“Consistency, discipline, and self-awareness are what keep me steady. Understanding yourself is key to overcoming any obstacle,” he added.
Offering advice to aspiring entertainers, Odule warned about the pitfalls of chasing fame without patience and self-discipline.
“Entering the entertainment world requires caution. Many stumble not out of intent but because they lose focus,” he cautioned.
