Due to the illness of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, will now head Nigeria’s delegation at the upcoming World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meeting in the United States.
The conference is scheduled to commence on Monday in Washington, D.C.
This update was shared by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, in a statement released on Sunday from Abuja.
The announcement stated: “Olayemi Cardoso, serving as the Central Bank Governor and alternate Governor for Nigeria, will lead the country’s delegation at the World Bank and IMF Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., beginning Monday, October 13.”

“Cardoso steps in for Minister Wale Edun, who is currently unable to attend due to health reasons.
The delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete.
“According to the World Bank’s agenda, the Annual Meetings will feature significant sessions such as the Development Committee Plenary on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meetings on October 17.
“Additional activities will encompass regional briefings, media conferences, and forums addressing global development challenges, economic trends, and financial market dynamics.”
