Victor Osimhen was absent from Galatasaray’s recent match against Eyupspor, with their upcoming fixture being a crucial UEFA Champions League clash versus Eintracht Frankfurt.
Galatasaray’s head coach, Orkan Buruk, has conveyed a positive outlook regarding the fitness of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen ahead of their Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt this Thursday, according to Soccernet.ng.
Osimhen has been managing a slight ankle injury sustained during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Rwanda last weekend.
This injury forced him to miss Nigeria’s subsequent qualifier against South Africa, as he returned to Galatasaray for further medical evaluation.
Osimhen was also notably absent from Galatasaray’s recent encounter with Eyupspor, raising questions about his availability for the pivotal Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Following that game, Buruk provided an update on Osimhen’s condition, indicating a strong possibility that the striker will feature in the midweek fixture.

“We will have a clearer picture of Osimhen’s condition in the coming days. We believe he will be able to play. He is experiencing some pain, but we will assess if he can manage it on the pitch,” Buruk told SuperHaber.
Buruk’s remarks suggest that Osimhen is nearing a return to action. Even if he does not start, it is likely he will be included on the bench.
Why Eintracht Frankfurt Should Be Wary of Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen boasts an impressive record against Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old Nigerian striker has netted three goals in three matches against the German side.
His initial encounter with Frankfurt came during the 2017/18 season while playing for Wolfsburg, where he appeared as a late substitute but did not score.

His subsequent meetings with Eintracht Frankfurt occurred during the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League season with Napoli, where he scored three goals. Notably, he found the net once at the Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt’s home ground.
In the return leg at the Stadio Diego Maradona, Osimhen added a brace, further cementing his effectiveness against the German club.
Considering his proven track record, Eintracht Frankfurt should be cautious. Should Osimhen be fully fit, he will undoubtedly pose a significant threat to their defense.
