Chelsea Head Coach Enzo Maresca Provides Latest Injury Report Ahead of Fulham Encounter
In the lead-up to Chelsea’s upcoming home fixture against Fulham, head coach Enzo Maresca shared crucial updates regarding the squad’s fitness status during the pre-match media briefing. The London derby, scheduled for later this week, sees Chelsea grappling with several key absences.
Maresca confirmed that Cole Palmer, BenoĆ®t Badiashile, and Romeo Lavia will be unavailable for selection due to injuries. Palmer, the England international, sustained his injury during the warm-up session before Chelsea’s recent clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium on August 22, 2025.
He stated,
“Cole is sidelined, BenoĆ®t is out, Romeo is also unavailable, but the rest of the squad is fit and ready.”
Addressing the recent transfer of Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan after two seasons with Chelsea, Maresca elaborated on the rationale behind the move. He highlighted that Nkunku’s role on the pitch overlapped with Palmer’s, which influenced the club’s decision to part ways with the French forward.
“Christopher is an exceptional professional who trained diligently. The challenge was that his position mirrored that of Cole’s. Milan can look forward to great contributions from him because he’s a top-class player and professional.”
So far this season, Chelsea have accumulated four points from their opening two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and West Ham. The club and fans alike are hopeful that Palmer will recover swiftly and return to action before the international break concludes.
