Former Ohio State wide receiver, Julian Fleming, is facing multiple criminal charges, including one count of homicide in relation to the ATV crash that k!lled his girlfriend. Back in May, Alyssa Boyd, 23, died after suffering ‘extensive injuries’ in the accident on a rural road along the New York state line in Pennsylvania, according to cops. Fleming, 24, was driving the Yamaha quad when a deer darted out onto the road in front of them. Fleming has now been criminally charged over the matter ahead of a preliminary hearing date on October 22nd. However, speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, his lawyer has insisted that the charges are ‘harsh’ and are ‘not supported by the facts’. Fleming is facing felony charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, and aggravated assault by vehicle. He also is charged with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Fleming’s attorney David Bahuriak said: ‘Our hearts go out to this young lady and her family. ‘It’s unfortunate that the government has decided to put them – and Julian’s family – through such an ordeal when they should know the facts do not support a homicide charge here. ‘The charges are not only harsh but they are also not supported by the facts in this case. And we intend to prove that. This is a sad and tragic accident. Nothing more, nothing less. This is not a homicide. ‘He’s being treated incredibly unfairly. And what’s the purpose here? Really? He’s already felt an indescribable amount of pain and loss. I can only imagine the amount of pain that the victim’s family has been through. But this is not a crime. ‘This was unavoidable. They have evidence in this case that his ATV struck a deer that ran into the roadway. Alcohol’s got nothing to do with this accident’. Court documents reportedly show that former Penn State star is currently being held in a county jail with a designation of ‘unable to post bail,’ set at $75,000. Further reports claim that the documents note Fleming allegedly had a BAC of .118 shortly after the crash. According to state police, neither Boyd nor Fleming were wearing helmets when the crash occurred. Fleming, meanwhile, suffered ‘serious’ injuries in the crash and was immediately rushed to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital at the time. Fleming played football for Penn State Nittany Lions in 2024, after transferring from Ohio State following three years on the Buckeyes.
