David Anthony Burke, the American singer-songwriter better known as d4vd, has reportedly halted the remainder of his US and European tour dates amid intensifying scrutiny following the discovery of a decomposed body in the trunk of a vehicle linked to a missing teenager.
Ticketmaster, the global ticketing platform, announced that no upcoming concerts are scheduled for d4vd in the United States, and his planned European tour dates for October were officially cancelled as of Sunday.
Rising to fame through TikTok, d4vd has amassed a significant fanbase with his distinctive sound that fuses elements of indie, R&B, and rock, often characterized by its somber and introspective tone.
Fifteen-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez disappeared last year, and her remains were discovered inside a Tesla reportedly registered to the singer, though law enforcement has not confirmed ownership of the vehicle.
Requests for comment from d4vd’s management were not returned by The Associated Press.
The body was found in the front trunk of the car, which had been impounded at a tow facility in Hollywood, California, on September 8, after authorities were alerted by a strong odor emanating from the vehicle.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department identified the remains as those of Rivas, a resident of Lake Elsinore, California, near Los Angeles. She was last seen in April 2024, according to a missing person’s flyer obtained by CBS News.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office stated, “The individual appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for a prolonged period prior to discovery.”
Law enforcement conducted a search of a Hollywood Hills residence where Burke had been staying, as reported by ABC News on Thursday.
Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of death or clarify any direct link between Burke and Rivas. The Los Angeles Times, citing anonymous sources, noted that investigators are working to reconstruct Rivas’s movements leading up to the discovery and to determine any possible connection to the singer. Officials have confirmed that Burke is cooperating with the investigation.
At 20 years old, Burke performed at Chicago’s Salt Shed just two days before the discovery of Rivas’s body, as part of his Withered tour promoting his debut album.
However, his upcoming concerts in Los Angeles and San Francisco have been cancelled. Similarly, his European tour, which included approximately a dozen shows starting in Norway, has been removed from Ticketmaster listings.
Concerts scheduled for Australia in November remain available for purchase at this time.
The case has dominated headlines across the United States in recent weeks, sparking renewed interest in d4vd’s music. Notably, his 2022 track “Romantic Homicide” surged to number 29 on Spotify’s global top 50 streamed songs chart.
