Dangote Petroleum Refinery has publicly conveyed its deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt and decisive action in halting what the company described as the “disruptive maneuvers by PENGASSAN” targeting the refinery.
In an official release, the refinery highlighted that the President’s leadership, executed through his ministers and senior government officials, was instrumental in reinstating stability and order within the energy sector during a critical period.
“We sincerely appreciate the intervention of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, whose involvement, alongside his Ministers and senior officials, successfully curtailed the disruptive activities initiated by PENGASSAN against the refinery,” the statement affirmed.
The company acknowledged the relentless efforts of key government figures who played pivotal roles in restoring calm. These included Nigeria’s top security officials, led by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Mohammed Mohammed.
Additionally, the refinery praised other senior government representatives who worked tirelessly, often late into the night, to prevent the planned disruption of Nigeria’s energy infrastructure by what it termed “agents of chaos.” Among these were the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
“We remain profoundly thankful to these officials for their patriotism and unwavering dedication to national service,” the statement added.
Dangote Refinery also extended its heartfelt appreciation to Nigerians nationwide for their overwhelming support throughout the crisis.
“To Nigerians from every background, we owe an immense debt of gratitude. Your solidarity with our just cause was both inspiring and deeply encouraging. We heard your voices of support echoing across streets and media platforms throughout the country, which fortified our resolve and renewed our faith in the Nigerian people as the foundation of our enterprise. Rest assured, we will continue to work tirelessly in your interest, steadfastly defending it against opportunists, economic disruptors, and those who seek to undermine our progress,” the company stated.
The refinery further commended its employees for their steadfast loyalty and dedication during the industrial unrest.
“To our devoted workforce, who ensured uninterrupted operations despite provocations and divisive rhetoric from detractors wishing ill upon Nigeria and our company, we express our sincere thanks. The strength of the Dangote Group lies in our people and their unwavering commitment to our mission and vision. Your loyalty during these challenging days has been invaluable. You are deeply appreciated and will continue to receive fair recognition and compensation, regardless of the misleading directives from those opposed to Nigeria’s advancement,” the statement emphasized.
Reaffirming its status as a leading employer in Nigeria, the refinery underscored the Dangote Group’s commitment to equitable labor practices and national economic progress.
“It is worth noting that the Dangote Group is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s exemplary employers and stands as the country’s largest private sector employer and top contributor to tax revenues. Our remuneration system aligns with global standards, designed not only to reward excellence but also to safeguard employee welfare, uphold dignity in the workplace, and provide a secure and supportive environment. Through ongoing training, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities, we empower our staff to ascend into leadership roles and build rewarding, long-term careers,” the company explained.
Dangote Refinery also lauded the Nigerian judiciary for its steadfast commitment to justice and the rule of law amid provocations.
“The judiciary is an institution we deeply respect and must commend loudly. It stood firm for justice, serving as a beacon of hope for all. Unfortunately, some oligarchs publicly demonstrated their disregard for the law by refusing to accept valid court orders aimed at curbing their destructive actions. Nevertheless, the judiciary’s intervention at this critical juncture, despite intimidation from these disruptive elements, highlights its role as a fair and impartial arbiter,” the statement noted.
In conclusion, the refinery reiterated its unwavering dedication to national development and industrial progress.
“Finally, to all our stakeholders, large and small, we extend our gratitude and will continue to rely on your support. We remain committed to serving Nigeria faithfully through the continuous production of petroleum products. Our pledge to the Nigerian people is steadfast and unshakeable, despite distractions from detractors and saboteurs within our midst,” the company affirmed.
