The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, has categorically rejected claims of an alleged suspension and replacement of its executive members, branding such actions as unconstitutional, fraudulent, and invalid from inception.
In a prompt countermeasure, the party also imposed indefinite suspensions on several executives who spearheaded the purported suspension, including Samuel Evwighono, Juliet Oduma, Daniel Osiebe, Pharm. Ogaabe Suzzy, Omokiniovo John, Onakpoma Philip, Ekama Ufuoma, Sobotie Paul, and Emeyarakpo Ufuoma, citing “gross misconduct” and labeling them as impostors within the party.
Addressed to the Delta State Working Committee of the APC and signed by Ughelli North APC Chairman Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje and Secretary Barr. (Mrs.) Beauty Ubogun-Nze (ACArb), the response strongly contested the legitimacy of an alleged emergency meeting held on October 4, 2025, where a vote of no confidence was reportedly passed against the current leadership.
The letter clarified, “No meeting took place at the party secretariat on October 4, 2025. Neither the Chairman, Mr. Obakpororo Onoabedje, nor the Secretary, who controls access to the secretariat, authorized or convened any such gathering. Any claims to the contrary are entirely fabricated and false.”
The Ughelli North APC leadership condemned the supposed suspension as a blatant violation of the party’s constitution, specifically referencing Article 2 of the APC Constitution (2022 amended), which upholds constitutional supremacy and invalidates any conflicting decisions. They emphasized that the suspension and replacement attempts are null and void from the outset due to their contravention of fundamental party laws.
Drawing on legal precedents such as Majigiri vs Yusuf (2023) and Ariori vs Elemo (1983), the party officials underscored that the alleged meeting lacked due process and fair hearing, essential tenets of justice, rendering its outcomes unconstitutional and legally void.
The leadership dismissed accusations that the Chairman had neglected to hold meetings since June 2023, asserting that the Chairman and a two-thirds majority of the Local Government Executive Committee have actively convened sessions and fulfilled their responsibilities to the satisfaction of party members. They highlighted that new members were registered and issued party cards as recently as May 15, 2025.
Addressing claims of anti-party conduct, the leaders affirmed that the Chairman, Secretary, and Organising Secretary have been diligently engaged in strengthening the party, fostering reconciliation among new members, and advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s RENEWED HOPE AGENDA. They accused unnamed “impostors” of attempting to destabilize the party at the grassroots level in direct violation of the constitution.
In a notable disclosure, the Ughelli North APC revealed that the purported resolution was a forgery, pointing out that a deceased individual, Chief Dickson Umukoro, was allegedly listed as a signatory, invalidating the document. They further stated that those who signed the resolution are not authorized members empowered to convene or vote in such meetings.
The statement warned that certain desperate factions within the party are resorting to illegal tactics and forged documents to impose themselves, actions that only threaten party cohesion ahead of upcoming elections. “The Ughelli North APC remains united, focused, and undeterred by political opportunists seeking to sow discord,” the statement affirmed.
Reasserting their authority, Chairman Onoabedje and Secretary Ubogun-Nze declared, “Under Chairman Obakpororo Onoabedje’s leadership, the Ughelli North Local Government Executive Committee is robust and well-positioned to propel our party to sweeping victories in the forthcoming general elections.”
During a subsequent leadership review meeting, the Ughelli North APC passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje (Chairman), Barr. (Mrs.) Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), and Mr. Henry Ophori (Organising Secretary), praising their transparent governance and dedication to party unity and stability. The statement confirmed that these executives remain the legitimate representatives of the APC in Ughelli North.
Simultaneously, the chapter labeled Mr. Samuel Evwighono, Ms. Juliet Oduma, and Mr. Daniel Osiebe as “impostors and meddlesome interlopers,” cautioning party members against engaging with them regarding APC affairs. Their actions were described as unconstitutional and misleading to both party members and the public.
Invoking Article 215 (vi) of the APC Constitution, the party announced the indefinite suspension of nine individuals from the Ughelli North Executive Committee for “gross misconduct, insubordination, and violation of party discipline.” Those suspended include Samuel Evwighono, Juliet Oduma, Daniel Osiebe, Pharm. Ogaabe Suzzy, Omokiniovo John, Onakpoma Philip, Ekama Ufuoma, Sobotie Paul, and Emeyarakpo Ufuoma.
Upholding the principle of fair hearing, the leadership stated that an Investigation Committee will be established to thoroughly review the alleged infractions and constitutional breaches by the suspended members. The statement also urged all self-proclaimed leaders-many of whom are recent defectors intent on causing division-to cease their disruptive activities immediately. The party reaffirmed its commitment to unity, discipline, and the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it prepares for a decisive victory in 2027.
Additionally, the leadership praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his transformative Renewed Hope Agenda and commended Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his MORE Agenda, which is revitalizing Delta State. Copies of the response were forwarded to the APC National Chairman, National Working Committee, and other key party officials.
