Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Edo State, has instructed all 18 local government chairpersons to require their officials to don specially designed caps featuring President Bola Tinubu’s emblem during official gatherings at council secretariats.
This mandate extends to supervisory councillors, senior special assistants (SSAs), and special assistants (SAs), as part of a broader initiative to visibly affirm grassroots support for President Tinubu’s leadership and political agenda within Edo State.
In a statement released over the weekend by his media representative, Agbukor Lucky Apeakhuye, Ekpeson explained that this directive aligns with the political unity message recently emphasized by Governor Senator Monday Okpehbolo.
He highlighted that showcasing political insignia at the local government level is a deliberate strategy to strengthen backing for the president in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
“The commitment to deliver 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu from Edo State must move beyond aspiration to action,” Ekpeson remarked.
“It is essential to cultivate this momentum starting at the grassroots, incorporating symbolic gestures that demonstrate our political allegiance,” he added.
Ekpeson called on local government officials to approach this directive with utmost dedication, noting that a consistent and unified display of support will enhance political solidarity across the state.
