The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), through its International Spokesperson, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke, has officially named Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, his Deputy Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, and the Government House Chief of Staff, Hon. Gani Audu, as Eminent Peace Ambassadors of the organization.
Ambassador Nkweke emphasized that this honour reflects their unwavering dedication to fostering peace, tolerance, and sustainable growth within Edo State and its neighboring communities.
With this designation, IAWPA anticipates that the 2027 electoral process in Edo State will be conducted with civility and orderliness, serving as a benchmark for other Nigerian states. “We trust that Edo State’s leadership will maintain a strong focus on peace and stability, ensuring an election free from conflict,” the spokesperson remarked.
Furthermore, the association has declared Edo State as its official headquarters for the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Recognizing the steadfast commitment of Edo’s residents to harmony and security, IAWPA stated, “Edo State will serve as the central hub for our activities in the South-South region. This strategic positioning will enhance our capacity to promote peace initiatives and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the grassroots level.”
IAWPA also urged all relevant parties within Edo State and the wider South-South area to rally behind its Eminent Peace Ambassadors in their mission to nurture peace and societal stability. “United in purpose, we can cultivate a safer and more thriving community for everyone,” the statement concluded.
