Nearly two months after the viral Coldplay kiss-cam incident involving Astronomer HR executive Kristin Cabot and her CEO, her estranged husband Andrew Cabot has finally spoken out, clarifying that their separation preceded the event.
Andrew Cabot, 61, who leads New England’s Privateer Rum distillery and is an heir to the family fortune, shared through a representative that he and Kristin had privately and amicably parted ways several weeks before the July 16 concert in Boston where Kristin was seen with then-CEO Andy Byron.
Although the divorce was officially filed weeks after the concert, the spokesperson emphasized that the decision to end their marriage was already in motion prior to that night.
“With the divorce now public, Andrew hopes this statement will put an end to rumors and allow his family the privacy they cherish. No additional comments will be made,” the statement concluded.

At the time of the scandal, Andrew was away on a business trip in Japan and only became aware of the situation upon his return. Kristin, aged 52, officially filed for divorce on August 13, nearly a month after the incident gained widespread attention.
The couple had recently acquired a $2.2 million coastal property in New England just five months before the controversy erupted. This divorce marks Andrew’s third; he has two children from a previous marriage.
Julia Cabot, Andrew’s second ex-wife, revealed to the Daily Mail that Andrew had confided in her about the separation prior to the kiss-cam incident.
“Right after the scandal broke, I messaged Andrew, and he responded that Kristin’s personal life was none of his concern and confirmed they were separating,” Julia recounted. “Following that, I received numerous messages from people mentioning ‘karma’-it was a clear case of what goes around comes around.”

Julia also commented on Andrew’s character, stating he is “not a kind person” and doubted that he was emotionally affected by the affair. “I don’t believe he was hurt by what happened. If anything, he might be embarrassed,” she added.
Kristin, who was previously married to Kenneth Thornby until 2022, has a child from that marriage as well.
The kiss-cam moment occurred during Coldplay’s performance of their 2005 hit “Fix You,” following the “Jumbotron Song.” When the camera focused on Kristin and Andy Byron, Chris Martin initially assumed they were a couple and remarked, “Look at these two.” However, as Byron quickly moved away and Kristin turned aside, Martin humorously corrected himself: “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. Holy s-t. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
The aftermath was immediate and intense. Andy Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, removed her married name from social media, and both Kristin and Byron resigned from their roles at Astronomer amid the public uproar.
