Former actress Georgina Onuoha has entered the ongoing marital dispute involving Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

She expressed her thoughts as follows:

Statement
“It is profoundly upsetting to see the recent clips circulating online where actress Regina Daniels seems to accuse her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, of domestic abuse. These serious allegations have naturally sparked widespread concern and indignation.
What adds to the distress is that within less than a day of these accusations surfacing, Senator Nwoko responded by publicly labeling his wife-the mother of his children-as a ‘drug addict.’ Regardless of the veracity of these claims, choosing to address such sensitive matters in a public and humiliating way raises critical questions about intent, empathy, and the duties expected of someone in public office.
A spouse, particularly one with Senator Nwoko’s stature, influence, and maturity, should act as a guardian rather than a public accuser of their partner. Opting to expose these issues publicly instead of pursuing appropriate avenues like counseling, medical care, or private support reflects poorly on both judgment and compassion.
Many Nigerians are now questioning whether this public rebuttal was designed to discredit Regina Daniels and diminish her allegations of abuse. Could it be a strategy to erode her credibility and manipulate public perception? Sadly, this tactic of public shaming, controlling narratives, and emotional intimidation is a familiar pattern employed by powerful men against younger, less empowered women.
According to his own account, Senator Nwoko began courting Regina when she was still a teenager and married her at eighteen. This raises a critical question: how does a young woman, who entered his household under his care, suddenly become, as he claims, addicted to drugs? If such behavior did occur, wouldn’t it indicate neglect, emotional turmoil, or insufficient support within her environment?
Even if one were to accept the senator’s version, what kind of responsible husband publicly humiliates the mother of his children-fully aware she is a public figure and that their children will one day see these damaging statements? Such conduct reveals ego and self-interest rather than love, care, or leadership.
This is not the first time Senator Nwoko’s private affairs have sparked public controversy. His previous conflict with his former wife, Laila Charani, followed a similar pattern of public accusations, humiliation, separation, and eventual reconciliation. This recurring behavior highlights deeper issues of control and unhealthy power imbalances often present when significantly older men marry much younger women.
Regina Daniels may not be flawless-no one is-but she deserves respect, fairness, and protection. She was thrust into a world of wealth, politics, and influence long before she had the emotional tools to handle it. If she is now reaching out for help, her plea should not be dismissed or ridiculed.
If Senator Nwoko genuinely believes his wife is battling substance abuse, the compassionate and responsible course of action is to seek professional help, not to expose her private struggles to the public eye. Conversely, if her allegations of abuse hold truth, justice must be pursued through proper legal channels rather than social media confrontations.
No husband, regardless of faith, wealth, or status, has the right to demean or endanger his wife. Public degradation is not an expression of love. Character assassination is not leadership.
The Nigerian public, especially influential men, must raise their standards. Marriage is a partnership, not ownership. Power should never be wielded to silence, intimidate, or harm.
Both parties deserve fair legal examination, but decency and compassion must guide the handling of this matter moving forward.
I urge the Nigerian police and drug enforcement authorities to initiate a thorough investigation into Senator Ned Nwoko concerning the domestic violence claims made by his wife, his own accusations about drug use in his household, and the alleged use of firearms against his estranged wife as reported by his brother.
One cannot represent a nation as a lawmaker while breaking laws within their own home.”
