Kabiru Turaki (SAN), a former Minister of Special Duties, has categorically rejected the accusations of sexual harassment and mistreatment brought against him by Hadiza Baffa.
Turaki acknowledged that he once served as Hadiza’s guardian at the behest of her mother, a longtime family friend. However, he eventually relinquished this responsibility due to her repeated inappropriate behavior, returning her to her family’s care.
Hadiza recently went viral with a video accusing Turaki of serious offenses, including rape, sexual assault, and forced termination of pregnancies.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja through his lawyer, Abdulaziz Ibrahim (SAN), Turaki stated, “The claims of rape, forced abortions, ritualistic acts, threats to life, and broken promises of marriage have all been exhaustively investigated by law enforcement and found to be baseless.”
Ibrahim further explained that after unsuccessful efforts to manipulate the police and judiciary to support her defamatory campaign, Hadiza has now turned to social media to propagate her falsehoods.
“We have observed the circulation of videos and reports by Hadiza Musa Baffa under hashtags such as ‘Justice for Hadiza Baffa,’ which are riddled with inconsistencies, fabrications, and unsubstantiated accusations against our client, a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria,” he said.
“It is imperative to clarify the facts, as silence could be misconstrued, potentially misleading the public. In her recent videos, Hadiza attempts to undermine court documents, denies issuing a WhatsApp apology, and feigns ignorance about her own requests to the police and courts to withdraw her initial complaint, which led to the case’s dismissal.”
“Although a charge of ‘deception of marriage’ was filed, Hadiza later retracted the case, issued an apology, and the court struck out the matter. Subsequently, her father formally withdrew all prior allegations and revealed that Saidu Mohammed Mainasara orchestrated the blackmail,” Ibrahim added.
The senior counsel also revealed that, frustrated by the failure of legal avenues, Hadiza resorted to blatant extortion, demanding from Turaki an N850 million lump sum to remain silent, N47 million to settle her rent arrears, and a luxury residence in Maitama or Asokoro to maintain her lifestyle.
Ibrahim confirmed that Turaki rejected all such demands, emphasizing that Hadiza’s current social media campaign is merely a desperate ploy to extract money after exhausting all legitimate and illegitimate channels.
He called on the public and media outlets to dismiss these unfounded claims, affirming that the truth is on record, the judiciary has delivered its verdict, and no amount of coercion will change the established facts.
