The Federal Government has officially announced that Friday, September 5, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in honor of Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
This declaration was made public on Tuesday, September 3, through a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
In the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, representing the Federal Government, extended heartfelt felicitations to Muslims both within Nigeria and globally.
He encouraged the Muslim community to reflect on and embody the Prophet’s exemplary qualities such as peace, kindness, humility, tolerance, and empathy, emphasizing that these principles are essential for fostering national unity and progress.
Furthermore, the minister appealed to all Nigerians, regardless of religious background, to seize this moment to pray for the nation’s peace, security, and stability, while actively supporting governmental initiatives aimed at promoting unity and sustainable growth.
