At FilmOne Entertainment’s 2025 Exhibitor Showcase, themed “Lights, Legacy and Leaps,” the spotlight was firmly on Nollywood’s dynamic progress in cinema. Filmhouse Group CEO Kene Okwuosa took the stage to declare that Nigerian cinemas have not only recovered from the pandemic but are now thriving. “Audiences are returning to theaters. Covid is behind us,” he affirmed, projecting that Filmhouse Group expects to reach three million cinema admissions by year-end.

Showcasing a diverse lineup of 26 upcoming films slated through 2026, FilmOne revealed a vibrant mix of intimate character-driven stories, grand historical narratives, and fresh comedic ventures, signaling a more ambitious and bustling future for Nigeria’s box office.

2025 Film Lineup

‘The Herd’ (October 17, 2025)

Making his directorial debut, actor-producer Daniel Etim-Effiong presents The Herd, a poignant drama centered on Gosi, a man grappling privately with his wife’s recurring cancer diagnosis. What begins as a joyful wedding reunion with friends soon spirals into tragedy. Featuring Genoveva Umeh, Kunle Remi, Mercy Aigbe, and Patrick Doyle, the film delves into themes of loss, camaraderie, and the burden of hidden truths.

3 Cold Dishes (November 7, 2025)

Directed by Asurf Oluseyi, 3 Cold Dishes follows three women from Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin who reunite after twenty years to confront the men who trafficked them. Starring Wale Ojo, Osas Ighodaro, Ruby Akubueze, and Femi Jacobs, this gripping narrative explores survival, justice, and the enduring scars of trauma across borders.

‘Grandpa Must Obey’ (November 21, 2025)

Chibuzor Afurobi directs this touching drama about a grandfather whose attempt at babysitting quickly turns into a comedic whirlwind. With Yvonne Jegede and Kanayo O. Kanayo leading the cast, Grandpa Must Obey humorously explores generational clashes, rediscovering joy, and the essence of family bonds.

‘Ilu’ (November 28, 2025)

Odunlade Adekola directs and stars in Ilu, an epic tale set in a kingdom ruled by a ruthless tyrant bound to a malevolent spirit. ‘Oversabi Aunty’ (December 19, 2025)

Rounding out the year, Niyi Akinmolayan’s Colours of Fire is a grand Christmas tale weaving mythology, romance, and sacrifice.
