Senator Remi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has been honored with the distinguished traditional title of Sarauniyar Yaki, meaning Warrior Queen, by the Akko Emirate in Gombe State.
This prestigious recognition was conferred upon her on Thursday by the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, as a tribute to her unwavering dedication to protecting vulnerable populations and advocating for the rights and well-being of women and children nationwide.
During her official two-day visit to Gombe State, the First Lady is set to inaugurate the Renewed Hope Initiative’s ‘Flow With Confidence’ campaign. This groundbreaking menstrual health program aims to supply disposable sanitary pads to schoolgirls, fostering better menstrual hygiene and helping to curb absenteeism related to menstruation.
Following the investiture, Mrs. Tinubu conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the accolade, describing the recognition as both motivating and deeply humbling.
She reaffirmed her commitment to expanding support for girls, especially in the areas of education and healthcare, and urged traditional leaders to join forces in amplifying her efforts at the community level.
The event took place within the Akko Emirate and was attended by notable figures including Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, and other prominent guests.
