The Gamaliel and Susan Foundation recently honored Shalom Adesina, a former student of Rehoboth College in Ilorin, Kwara State, with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding achievement of securing straight A’s in the 2023 West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.
Under the leadership of Mr. Gerald Obasi, representatives from the foundation visited the school to formally present the accolade to the distinguished scholar.
Obasi explained that although the student’s remarkable accomplishment was acknowledged earlier, the official celebration was postponed due to a mourning period observed by the Foundation.
This hiatus followed the passing of Mrs. Susan Onosode in 2023, who had admirably upheld the vision of her late husband, the Foundation’s founder, resulting in the organization’s closure for over a year.
During the event held on the school grounds, the Foundation took the opportunity to commend both the exceptional student and the institution responsible for nurturing such talent.
Accompanied by his parents, Adesina received his award from Obasi, who also presented a separate commendation to the school in recognition of its dedication to cultivating academic excellence.
Overcome with emotion, Adesina expressed heartfelt thanks to the school, highlighting the generosity of Engr. Popoola, whose support enabled him to receive quality education free of charge despite his family’s financial challenges.
He conveyed profound appreciation and offered prayers for the school’s sustained success and the well-being of its proprietors.
In addition to the award, the Foundation gifted the school a package comprising a commemorative plaque, notebooks, and a monetary donation of N100,000.
Mr. AbdulMalik Sheidu, the school principal, praised the Foundation for the recognition and reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to upholding academic standards.
He credited the school’s achievements to divine guidance, the dedication of the teaching staff, and the steadfast support of the school’s owners.
