Enugu State Launches Free Fertilizer and Agricultural Input Program for Over 60,000 Farmers
In a significant boost to agricultural productivity, the government of Enugu State has initiated the distribution of complimentary fertilizers and essential farm inputs to more than 60,000 local farmers. This initiative aims to enhance crop yields and support sustainable farming practices across the region.
The program, recently inaugurated by Governor Mbah, is part of a broader strategy to empower smallholder farmers by reducing the cost burden of agricultural inputs. By providing these resources at no charge, the state government hopes to stimulate increased food production and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.
Similar agricultural support schemes have demonstrated success in other Nigerian states, where subsidized inputs have led to a 20% rise in crop output within the first year of implementation. Enugu’s approach aligns with national efforts to achieve food security and economic growth through agricultural development.
