In Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, officers from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have successfully returned ₦6.2 million in cash along with other belongings recovered from a fatal road accident to their legitimate owners.
The unfortunate collision took place on the Gusau-Sokoto Road near Dikke village, resulting in two fatalities and injuring 16 individuals. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to brake malfunction, which led to the crash.
As reported by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Funtua, FRSC responders quickly arrived at the accident site and transported the injured to Sarkin Maska Hospital for urgent medical care.
Ali Murtala, the Acting Sector Commander of the FRSC, revealed that during the rescue efforts, officers recovered ₦6.2 million in cash and four mobile phones valued at approximately ₦550,000. “All recovered possessions have been returned to their rightful owners,” Murtala stated, praising his team for their dedication and ethical conduct throughout the operation.
One of the victims, who claimed ownership of the recovered money, expressed deep appreciation for the FRSC personnel’s honesty, highlighting their actions as a model of integrity deserving of recognition.
The FRSC in Funtua has also issued a reminder to drivers to conduct regular vehicle maintenance and strictly follow traffic laws to reduce the risk of preventable road accidents.
