The 26-year-old forward sustained a shin bruise during Nigeria’s narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Following the injury, he returned to Turkey and missed the 1-1 draw against South Africa.
Osimhen was absent from team training on Tuesday, and it was later confirmed that the former VfL Wolfsburg player will not travel to Deutsche Bank Park for tonight’s fixture.

Galatasaray Coach Buruk Addresses Osimhen’s Absence
“Osimhen is injured, as you know. We chose not to field him in the league match, hoping he could recover for this game,” Galatasaray’s head coach stated on the club’s official website.
“We assessed whether he could perform with the current setup. He participated in training over the past two days, but his feedback indicated he’s not ready to compete at this moment.”
“Our medical team and I agreed that player health is paramount. While every player aims to feature in every match, it’s crucial not to risk further harm.”
“Osimhen is a key figure for us, but playing him when he’s not fully fit would be detrimental both to him and the team.”

Galatasaray Faces a Major Setback

The Argentine forward has yet to complete a full 90-minute match since his surgery, which could pose challenges for Galatasaray given the lack of a dependable alternative to the 32-year-old striker.
Baris Yilmaz might be considered as a substitute option for Cim Bom Aslan, but the Turkish winger does not naturally play as a central striker, limiting his effectiveness in that role.
