Steven Gerrard has chosen not to rejoin Rangers, bringing an end to the ongoing discussions with the Scottish club as they search for a successor to Russell Martin.
After engaging in talks on Thursday and Friday, the former England midfielder concluded that the current moment isn’t ideal for a return to Rangers.
Although the conversations were constructive, both sides agreed to remain open to potential opportunities down the line. Gerrard previously guided Rangers to the Scottish Premiership crown in 2021 before departing for Aston Villa, where his tenure lasted less than a year. He later accepted the managerial role at Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League but parted ways with the club in January after an 18-month spell.
