Google has joined forces with the World Bank Group to enhance public digital infrastructure and drive the pace of digital transformation in developing economies such as Nigeria.
This partnership centers on implementing Open Network Stacks-digital frameworks designed to enable citizens to seamlessly access essential services.
By integrating Google Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities, including the Gemini models, with the World Bank Group’s extensive development knowledge, this initiative empowers governments to rapidly build interoperable networks across key sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and workforce development. These AI-driven services are accessible in more than 40 languages and can be used on basic devices, ensuring broad reach and inclusivity.
The collaboration builds upon a successful pilot project conducted in Uttar Pradesh, India, where thousands of small-scale farmers benefited from increased income through improved digital tools.
To ensure long-term impact and openness, Google.org is supporting the establishment of Networks for Humanity (NFH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating universal digital infrastructure-such as the Beckn open network and Finternet asset tokenization-while also launching regional innovation hubs and testing social impact solutions worldwide.
