Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the principles championed by the late Northern Nigeria premier and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
During a courtesy visit from the executives of the Gamji Members Association (GAMA) at the Ahmadu Bello House in G.R.A, Ilorin, AbdulRazaq, who holds the title Sardauna of Ilorin, emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy of the late Sardauna.
He expressed gratitude to GAMA members for their dedication to sustaining the GAMJI spirit and encouraged them to maintain their efforts without complacency.
“It is crucial that we continue to promote the values and vision of the late Sardauna of Sokoto. Our focus should remain on driving development initiatives, mirroring the commitment he demonstrated during his lifetime. I also urge the GAMA leadership to establish a youth wing within the association to guarantee the longevity of this mission,” the governor stated.
AbdulRazaq pledged ongoing support for GAMA and its activities, assuring the group of his administration’s backing.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his forward-thinking economic reforms and transformative policies, noting that these measures have spurred rapid progress across all states in the federation.
“We are witnessing significant advancements nationwide. States are now able to pay salaries promptly, and even local governments have begun implementing road construction projects,” the governor remarked.
Addressing security concerns in certain areas of Kwara State, AbdulRazaq remained optimistic: “The current security challenges are temporary and will soon be resolved. We have mobilized all resources to ensure the safety of our state and to propel it forward. The upcoming recruitment of forest guards is a strategic move to prevent criminal elements from exploiting unmonitored regions within the state.”
Highlighting the critical nature of the ongoing voter registration exercise, the governor called on GAMA members and other stakeholders to motivate citizens to participate actively and responsibly.
Earlier in the meeting, GAMA President General Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Akanbi conveyed the association’s unanimous vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRazaq, praising his leadership style as exemplary and aligned with the late Sardauna’s ideals.
Akanbi described the current wave of development projects in Kwara State as unprecedented, spanning sectors such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
He lauded the governor, saying, “Your Excellency embodies the spirit of the Sardauna of Ilorin, a title graciously bestowed upon you by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.”
He further noted that renaming the Kwara State Government House to Ahmadu Bello House symbolizes the governor’s deep respect for Sir Ahmadu Bello’s legacy.
Reflecting on the late Attorney General of the Federation, AbdulRazaq (SAN), Akanbi acknowledged his pivotal role in nurturing GAMJI, describing him as a devoted patron until his passing.
He assured the governor of GAMA’s unwavering support for his administration’s policies and initiatives.
