A political advocacy group affiliated with the Coalition of Northern Young Leaders has urged that the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima leadership alliance be maintained beyond 2027, emphasizing it as an essential partnership for Nigeria’s unified advancement.
The coalition highlighted that since taking office in 2023, the Tinubu-Shettima administration has exhibited forward-thinking governance, consistent policy implementation, and a well-defined strategic direction. They stressed that the ongoing reforms in Nigeria require sustained leadership to fully realize their intended impact.
In a declaration signed by National Coordinator Yusuf Ibrahim, the group pointed out that the 2023 general elections marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, where merit and proven capabilities prevailed over ethnic or religious biases.
“The Nigerian electorate chose leadership based on effectiveness, inclusiveness, and foresight rather than sectarian or tribal affiliations,” the statement emphasized. “The Tinubu-Shettima duo represents these principles, advancing economic transformation, institutional development, and programs empowering the youth.”
The coalition further asserted that the synergy between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima is characterized by aligned goals, mutual dedication, and a shared vision for national development, cautioning against disrupting this dynamic for political experimentation.
Additionally, the statement praised Nigerians for prioritizing meritocracy in politics, noting a significant decline in religious considerations within political debates-a sign of growing democratic sophistication.
“To safeguard national cohesion, stability, and progress, it is imperative that the Tinubu-Shettima leadership continues beyond 2027. This partnership must remain intact,” the coalition concluded.
