Notable Super Eagles players such as Babajide David Akintola, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Sone Aluko, Dele Adebola, Seyi Olofinjana, and Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha have all had spells at Hull City…
Defender Semi Ajayi, who represents both the Super Eagles and Hull City, is on the verge of a full comeback following a hamstring injury sustained last month, according to Soccernet.ng.
Having battled recurring hamstring issues over the past year, Ajayi has managed only three full matches since the start of this year.
With South Africa facing a three-point penalty, Ajayi’s recovery is a timely boost for coach Eric Chelle’s squad as they strive to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ajayi Poised to Return for Hull City Against Preston
Hull City’s manager, Sergej Jakirovic, disclosed that Ajayi has been steadily regaining match fitness by featuring in games with the club’s Under-21 squad.
“He has played ten, fifteen, thirty, and even sixty minutes with the U-21s, strictly following the recovery protocol,” the Bosnian coach told Yorkshire.
“Injuries can still happen despite precautions. Liam Millar is performing well in training, but every session carries some risk of injury.”
“Ajayi looks promising, and I hope he avoids setbacks like Mo Belloumi experienced.”

Jakirovic, who previously managed Dinamo Zagreb, expressed enthusiasm about Ajayi’s return, emphasizing the defender’s vital contributions to the squad.
“He has been training intensively and fully for the past two weeks, making him a viable option for upcoming matches.”
“Ajayi offers everything we need – pace, strong dueling ability, and aerial dominance in our penalty area. He was crucial in clearing numerous threats against Coventry. His presence is invaluable,” the 48-year-old coach added.

Hull City has two matches scheduled before the October international break, providing Ajayi with valuable game time to regain full match sharpness ahead of his national team commitments.
