The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over eight million Nigerians have successfully registered online during the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide.
According to the latest statistics from INEC, a total of 8,003,196 online registrations were recorded by the ninth week of the CVR, covering the period from October 13 to 19, 2025.
Women slightly outpaced men in the registration/” title=”ADC Challenges …'s First Week Continuous Voter … Report: What You Need to Know”>registration numbers, with female registrants totaling 4,190,890 (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 males (47.63%).
The youth demographic, specifically those aged 18 to 34, dominate the registrant pool, making up 5,533,514 individuals or 69.14%. Voters aged 35 to 49 accounted for 1,678,212 (20.97%), while those between 50 and 69 years old represented 704,866 (8.81%).
Occupationally, students lead the registrants with 2,018,967 entries, representing 25.23% of the total. Business professionals follow closely at 20.74% (1,659,690). Additionally, persons with disabilities (PWDs) contributed 182,718 registrations, making up 2.29% of all submissions.
State-wise, Imo State tops the list with 826,850 online pre-registrations (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%). Yobe State recorded the fewest registrations, with only 2,714 (0.03%).
INEC also highlighted that registration activities remain on hold in Anambra State in accordance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, pending the outcome of the governorship election scheduled for November 8.
To date, 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both the online pre-registration and the subsequent biometric verification at physical centers. Of these, 956,566 completed the process online, while 753,884 finalized their registration through in-person biometric capture.
Youth engagement remains strong in completed registrations, with 1,261,288 individuals aged 18 to 34 constituting 73.74% of the total. Women continue to lead with 945,305 (55.27%), while men account for 765,145 (44.73%). Persons with disabilities represent 24,207 (1.41%) of finalized registrations.
Among occupations, students again form the largest group with 566,391 completed registrations (33.11%), followed by businesspersons at 316,295 (18.49%) and homemakers at 259,932 (15.28%).
Regarding state-level completed registrations, Osun leads with 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (106,855), Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), Lagos (85,831), and Rivers (28,507).
INEC stressed that all figures are provisional and subject to final verification through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), which will detect and remove duplicate or invalid registrations to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the voter database.
