Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, nominated by President Bola Tinubu for the position of Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is presently at the National Assembly, preparing to face a Senate Committee of the Whole this Thursday afternoon.
Accompanied by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo and other dignitaries, Amupitan is set to undergo a rigorous questioning session by Senators following the presentation of his credentials, as part of the confirmation process for his potential appointment as INEC chairman.
According to LEADERSHIP, by approximately 12:50 pm, Amupitan had taken his seat in the Senate’s Red Chamber, having been escorted in by Senator Abubakar Lado, the presidential aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate), awaiting the start of the proceedings.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio extended a warm welcome to all attendees in the chamber, including Amupitan, his family, and supporters.
The screening commenced shortly after 12:55 pm, following introductory remarks from the Senate President outlining the format and expectations of the session.
