The Kaduna Mining Development Company (KMDC), in partnership with the Kaduna State Government, proudly announces the identification of a substantial multi-metallic mineral deposit within Kaduna State. This significant find includes an estimated inferred resource of 33 million tonnes of gold and 187 million tonnes of nickel ore. The discovery emerged during exploratory activities targeting tin within the pegmatite formations of Gidan Waya, located in the JEMAA local government area. Additionally, this exploration revealed an inferred reserve of approximately 97 million tonnes of ore rich in tantalum and niobium, accompanied by tin and tungsten minerals.
This breakthrough was achieved by Kian Smith (Hyperlink- https://www.kiansmith.com) on behalf of KMDC and Anka Metals (Hyperlink- https://ankametals.africa) through their joint venture. Following two years of intensive exploration, KMDC is excited to announce the establishment of the JEMAA Resource Project, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) dedicated to advancing the development of these mineral assets. Furthermore, the JEMAA Resource Project has formed a technical steering committee tasked with supervising ongoing drilling operations and confirming resource estimates.
The Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), entrusted with the mandate to provide authoritative geological data across Nigeria, will chair the technical steering committee for the JEMAA Resource Project in Kaduna State. The recent unearthing of this multi-metallic deposit, especially the nickel component, holds considerable national and geological significance. NGSA has expressed strong support for the transparent data-sharing initiatives championed by the JEMAA Resource Project and Kaduna State Government, endorsing an independent resource verification process under its leadership. This partnership is expected to bolster investor confidence in Nigeria’s mining sector while enhancing and updating the country’s geoscientific database, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth through its mineral wealth.
In addition to NGSA, the technical steering committee comprises senior representatives from Nigeria’s leading geological consulting firms, including Geocardinal Engineering Services Limited and Fundamental Integrated Site Appraisal Services Limited (FISAS), ensuring expert oversight and technical rigor throughout the project’s development phases.
